FIRE PERMITS

 

Campfire Permits:

There is a permit box located on the front of the fire station.  If there are no permits in the box, call one of the two numbers below.  (NOTE:  The permits in the box at the fire station are for campfires only in Maine Forest Service fire permit sites.  These permits can NOT be used for campfires in other locations and these permits can NOT be used for burning brush.)

In the Jackman region north and east of Jackman, call the Maine Forest Service in Greenville at 695-3721.  After hours and on weekends call the Maine Forest Service in Old Town at 827-1800.

In the Jackman region south of the Attean area, call the Maine Forest Service in Augusta at 1-800-750-9777.

 

For Permits to Burn Brush, Etc. on your property:

In Jackman, contact Koel Talpey at 668-4420, OR you can obtain a permit at the Jackman Town Office during regular business hours, Monday – Friday, 8am-4:30pm.

In Moose River, contact Jim Smyth at 668-7735 or Mike Smyth at 668-2029.

In Dennistown Plantation, contact Steve Coleman at 668-4436 or 668-7777.

In the Unorganized Townships, call the Maine Forest Service in Greenville at 695-3721.  After hours and on weekends contact the MFS in Old Town at 827-1800.

 

SPECIAL NOTE:  The burning of any kind of trash, rubber, plastic, etc. is absolutely prohibited by law.  You are permitted to burn only brush and clean lumber.
