THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA

A firefighter cannot see through
thick smoke to find people trapped inside a burning building. Using a thermal
imaging camera, firefighters can see through thick smoke!

Fund Raising for the Thermal Imaging
Camera
The Jackman - Moose River Volunteer
Fire Department, Inc. has started a campaign to raise $16,000 to purchase
an MSA 5000 thermal imaging camera complete with telemetry. (Telemetry
consists of a video transmitter built in to the camera that broadcasts
images to a video receiver. This
allows those outside of a burning building to watch all that the camera
sees inside the burning building.)
Being located in a remote region with no mutual aid available from
other fire departments, we need every advantage that we can get when
fighting a structure fire. A thermal imaging camera is a major advantage
that we cannot afford to be without.
As of September
30, 2003,
we had exceeded our fund raising goal!
The camera was delivered to us on
October 30th.
