JACKMAN UTILITY DISTRICT

___________________________

On January 1, 1998, the Jackman Water District and the Jackman Sewer District officially joined together and began operating as the Jackman Utility District.  The water service division of the Jackman Utility District provides water to most of the residents of Jackman, many residents in Moose River along Route 201, and to several camps in Attean Township in the Moose Point area.  The sewer service division of the Jackman Utility District provides sewer service to most residents of Jackman, to one home in Moose River, and to several camps in Attean Township in the Moose Point area.

Due to water quality concerns and legal requirements, a new water filtration plant was constructed and went on line in 1996. With the new filtration plant in operation, the water quality improved to the point that Jackman's water was rated as being the best tasting water in the state - a notable achievement.

Due to careful planning and administration at the Jackman Utility District, the water rates have remained at the same level since 1995, and the sewer rates have remained at the same level since 1990.

The Jackman Utility District office and water and sewer treatment plants are located at 28 Walton Street.  The phone number is 207-668-7686.

The Jackman Utility District Trustees meet monthly on the third Monday of the month at 7pm in the Utility District Office.
